The Praise Perspective

It was a scary time for the people of God. Assyria, the world power of the day, was about to turn out the lights on Judah. They needed a miracle from God or else their goose was cooked. King Hezekiah went to the Lord in prayer and said, “O LORD, the God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone…” (2 Kings 19:15). Unlike the way we often pray, Hezekiah began his prayer with praise. Praise is so vitally important in prayer because praise blesses God. The Bible says in Psalm 22 that God inhabits the praises of His people. Praise also brings perspective to our situation. If God can open His mouth and speak worlds into existence, He can surely handle any problem that threatens to destroy you. Start praising the Lord today and remind yourself that God can speak to your storm and calm it with a word. Now that’s REAL HOPE.
