The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 “In everything give thanks, for this is God's will in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Thankfulness is an attitude of gratitude that pleases God. But how do you get an attitude like that? I mean, what if life has kicked you in the teeth, and the last thing you feel is thankful? To stay thankful, remember these three things: 1. Remember that God doesn’t owe you anything. Everything you and I have is a gift from God. So, thank God for the gift of breath, health, family, friends and provision (no matter how large or how little). Secondly, remember that thanksgiving is faith turned inside out. When we’re thankful in all circumstances, it shows that we trust God and truly believe He is in control and works all things together for good. Thirdly, remember that thanksgiving honors God, especially when times are tough. Psalm 50:23 tells us, "He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me." Let me encourage you to be truly thankful for the things God has given you. He is worthy of our praise. In Him we find real hope!
