When I was a freshman in college, I began to seriously study the Bible. As I did, I fell in love with the stories of David. He was an amazing guy— he was strong, and courageous, and wise, and tender. I wanted to be like that. While David possessed so many great attributes, the one thing that really set him apart was that he was a man after God’s own heart. Why is that so important? Because God sees past the outward appearance. He sees into the heart. David pleased God because he had a humble heart, a believing heart, a God-dependent heart, a grateful heart, and a repentant heart. How does your heart look to God? In order to be a person like David, you must admit you're a sinner, confess those sins to God and ask Him to soften you and change you on the inside. And He'll answer that prayer. He wants you to have a heart for Him. Now that’s real hope.
