Will I Go to Heaven?

I’ve been asked this question a few times. “Pastor, as a Christian, do I have to ask God for forgiveness for every sin? If I die suddenly in a car wreck and haven’t been able to ask for forgiveness for all the sins of that day will I still go to Heaven?” Here’s the problem with this kind of thinking: it confuses “sonship” and fellowship. When you receive Christ as Savior and Lord all your sins are forgiven, past, present and future. Your eternal home in Heaven is secure. Your “sonship” is sealed in the Lord forever. Fellowship can come and go depending on your daily walk with the Lord. The admonition from the apostle John is this, “if we say we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, His son, cleanses us from all sin.” Now that’s real hope.
