Faithful Wounds

Have you ever changed lanes on the freeway, thinking all was clear because your rearview mirror showed no cars, only to find a car smack dab in your blind spot? Every driver deals with blind spots. Blind spots can get you into serious trouble. I remember very vividly when two of my friends talked to me about a blind spot in my life that I couldn’t see. When they pointed it out, my eyes began to open to the real story. Man, I had been so wrong! I confessed the problem to God and started to make needed adjustments. Here’s the bottom line: If you really want to walk with God, you must be open to reproof, even if it hurts, even if it’s something you’d rather not hear. The Bible says, “Stripes that wound scour away evil” (Proverbs 20:30). It is virtually impossible to go to the next level without the faithful wounds of a true friend who loves you enough to hold you accountable and point out your blind spots. Be open to correction. Faithful wounds from a trusted friend help you to grow in faithfulness. Now that’s REAL HOPE.
