Have you been ―vived?

Would you like to have REVIVAL in your life?  Well, guess what?  Many Christians speak of a desire for revival. Sometimes we think revival is what happens when unbelievers get saved during a crusade or special event.  But that's really not revival.  Revival is renewal in the life of a Christian.  It comes when lukewarm Christians start to get serious about walking with the Lord and living for Him.

You see, in order for a person to be RE-vived, they must first be—VIVED. There has to have been a time when that person asked Christ into their heart and received the wonderful gift of salvation and eternal life. So, before I go any further … have you been ―vived? Have you received Christ as Savior and Lord? If not, then don’t wait another day!

However, if you are already following Jesus, the tragic reality is this: it can be far too easy to lose your fire for the Lord. So, I ask you, "How is your spiritual heart condition at this very moment?" Perhaps, if you were to be completely honest, your response might be something like this: “I could really use a fresh touch from God. I want Him to set my soul on fire and bring back the passion and excitement that I once had for Him.”

I know there have been many times in my own life when I needed God to refresh and restore my heart and passion for Him. I often join with the psalmist as he cries out to God in Psalm 119:25: “My soul cleaves to the dust; revive me according to Your word.”

My friend, what you and I need is a real revival. But we will never experience that apart from the Word of God. So if you want revival to take place in your heart—a genuine and lifelong revival, that is—then make sure you are diving into God’s Word daily.

But, you might be thinking, “I’ve attended countless Bible studies and have notebooks filled with what was taught.” That’s great! But do you do what you’ve learned? Jesus said, “If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them” (Jn. 13:17). The blessing is not in the knowing, it is in the doing!

You see, as you read His Word, He restores your hunger and desire. And as you listen and obey, putting your faith into practice, you will experience a joy far greater than any passing pleasure this world could possibly offer.

Real revival can start in you today if you’ll receive, if you’ll believe, and if you’ll surrender to do His will.
