My wife Debbie loves gifts. To her, a gift represents love and care and concern. Now God loves gifts too. You see, everything you and I have is a gift from God. He owes us nothing. That's why the Bible says in Psalm 150:6, "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD." Even our breath is a gift from God. Sometimes people get bitter at God because they experience some type of loss. And they feel like God cheated them somehow. But, when you understand that God is good and gracious to undeserving sinners, you begin to live with humble gratitude and thanksgiving for what you have, and not prideful resentment for what you don't have. James tells us, "Every good thing bestowed, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights." Now that's REAL HOPE.
