The Desires of Your Heart
When I was on a mission trip to the Philippines, I had a great talk with a special young woman who worked at the church. She was 30 years old and single, and she still dreamed about becoming a housewife. I asked her if she knew Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” That is a great promise, a conditional promise. You must delight in God in order for Him to give you the desires of your heart. The word delight literally means to be soft and pliable, to be like moldable clay in the hands of the potter. When we truly delight ourselves in the Lord, we are willing to do the Father's will and accept the Father's will, whatever His will might be for us. And when we reach that place of total surrender, you know what? We will see Him give us the desires of our heart, just like He promises. Now that’s real hope.
