Years ago, I went on a mission trip to Africa where we slept in an encampment surrounded by an electric fence. Why? Because there were hungry lions on the other side of the fence! And if that fence had a flaw in it, the lions would’ve had an easy breakfast. You know, there’s a reason the Bible says Satan “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Satan is looking for a crack in our defenses. And marriage and families are his chief prey. If he sees a crack in our wall of defense due to our moral laxity, selfishness or compromise with the world, he can walk right in and bring tremendous devastation. So how can we seal the cracks? Psalm 127:1 says… Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. The Lord is the chief cornerstone. Make Him chief in your home. Build on Him and His word. As you do, He will watch, protect, provide and fill your marriage and family with love, joy and peace. Now that's REAL HOPE.
