Did you know that the devil has a bag of tricks? He really does. And he uses these tricks to try to get us to sin against God. 1 John 2:16 tells us about his tricks and there are three, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world." Now, the lust of the flesh hits us at our fleshly desires for food, sex, sleep, pleasure, and revenge. The lust of the eyes is the desire for things, a sin of greed and covetousness. And the boastful pride of life is the desire to be noticed and applauded, hitting at the issue of pride and the quest for notoriety and fame. Listen, all of us can relate to the devil's temptations, but victory can be ours.  Jesus overcame EVERY temptation by quoting the Word of God and we can do that as well. As we put the word into practice, we can overcome the devil. Now that's REAL HOPE.
